SEVEN-a-side football teams in Blackpool are being given the chance to get in the swing for the 2008 European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.

From March 2008 the Fylde kicked off a competition which will eventually embrace the rest of the North-West from 2009 and 64 teams from this area were invited to enter in two age groups from 12 yrs of age.

Organisers Pro-One Football Leisure are using Blackpool as their starting point to take the venture into Liverpool, Manchester, Blackburn, Preston and Wigan. Within five years they aim to establish it in the South and Midlands.

A total of 8 leagues in each age group were formed in Blackpool with 4 teams in each. Season 1 started on March 8 2008, the top two teams from the first qualifying league rounds went through to the championship league rounds along with the 3rd and 4th placed teams competed in a secondary knockout cup, this eventually lead to 16 teams competing in the knockout stages in each age group.

Teams can be formed from established clubs, pubs, places of work, families and groups of friends etc. Female and mixed teams are welcome.

The two age groups are up to 12-15 yrs years and 16 to adult

Winners of each tournament will recieve up to £1000.00 OR a planned day trip to Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium OR the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, Madrid. Runners-up get £500 OR a tour of Old Trafford OR The Emirates, London.
